Fallin’

Okay. I admit. I am extremely in-love.

A simple look and my heart beats faster. A soft sound and I am breathless. I yearn for the slightest warmth. Or even the littlest glance. I desire everything it offers.

. . .

“It?” You may ask. And I’ll gladly answer.

I am thoroughly smitten with a tv show. Pathetic? Perhaps. But I have my reasons.

Saiunkoku Monogatari, a josei novel-turned-anime, is responsible for my abnormal heart palpitations and occassional sighs and giggles. It consumes the precious hours I allot for anime watching. How? Simple. I repeatedly watch the previously aired episodes and fawn over them. With my severe lack of Japanese skills, I have to rely on deduction to decipher the unfolding story. Plus, the handy Wakan is here to help…

Why am I completely besotted like a fool? A single answer cannot suffice. The series screams epic without being pompous. Legends and myths intertwine with history. Romance is laced with politics. It cries out traditional yet contemporary. It displays female empowerment and its limitations in a bound society. It is simple but complex.

Pardon the dramatics. As I said, SaiMono has a strange effect on me.

My fascination for SaiMono is growing out of control. Seriously. I have purchased the ten novels despite my sucky reading skills. As if I have the power to read it any time soon… T_T

I fear the day they begin to release the R2s.
