The Unhappy Blogger

Any readers from The Other Blog, please cover your eyes because this is another one of those “I’m hating my fellow bloggers” type of rant.

I’m starting to sound like a broken record… But what the heck.

My favorite community (read: anime blogging) is starting to get watered down and, honestly, boring. The focus and attention is not anime anymore. Anime, now, plays second fiddle to the drama and flaming. Unless you haven’t guessed from my previous posts on the subject, I’ll reiterate my sentiments. IT’S FUCKING IRRITATING.

I know, I know. I can avoid this by not reading the posts in question. But even if I mentioned before that I vow to not touch them, I can’t help it. As the cliche goes, it’s like watching a train wreck.

What I’m thinking is a more drastic measure. Maybe I should retire my blog and start a-fresh in another community. Away from assholes. Of course, this also means I’ll cut ties with my favorite blogs as well. Ugh, I’m dramatic, ain’t I?

If I ever quit Duh! in the next few weeks, you might catch me on a new anime network. Right now, I’ve been recruited to write some Naruto commentaries. I’m still talking to the person-in-charge about the details. I’m not sure where this will lead.

I have a love-hate relationship with Naruto. It’s almost two years since my last entry for the series. I bet I’d have a ball with snarky and semi-humorous reviews. Eventhough I cannot create elegant prose, I’d like to think that I’ve improved in these three years. Heh, I’ve paid readers to tell me that. ;p

Oh, well. We’ll see how this goes. After writing this entry, my frustrations are slightly abated.

Hey, I didn’t know you had a real blog + your anime blog! Cool!

Y’know, I’ve noticed this stuff myself. I’ve tried to keep Anime Nano pretty open, but I really don’t agree with the sentiments that a lot of bloggers have. This is kind of hard when your aggregator is used to spread such nonsense.

You’ll notice that the classier bloggers have opted to stay out of this mess. I think it’s already started to die down anyway. If not, I’ll just remove the annoying blogs. Voila! Anyway, I wish more people would complain to me about this stuff, rather than keeping it to themselves. That’s what a community is for, right?

Plus your other blog (this one) is pretty cool, too.

  2. Hung Says:

BTW, you can email me if public commenting is like, too public.

  3. Ten Says:

I try to keep my annoyance out of the anime blog. Of course, my current tagline “more anime, less emo” is my not-so-subtle stand on this issue.

If I respond ‘publicly’, I know I’ll be linked to the mess. I’d rather air out my dirty laundry semi-privately. It keeps me sane. It’s more like letting out the frustration instead of making it grow into seething hatred. Only a handful of my readers from Duh! knows this blog, anyway.

As for Anime Nano, I’m liking the growth in the community. For the most part, it’s a friendly place. Plus, as you’ve mentioned the hoopla is dying down. Although I have strong opinions on these fools, I think it’s much better to ignore them. You’ll never see me give them a holler, a link, or any pimpage of any kind. I’m counting on the fact that a whole lot of blogs die after a few months, anyway. Hopefully, they’ll be the chosen ones.

Actually, this blog is built primarily for ranting. Coherence is optional.

  4. Ten Says:

P.S. ALthough the other issue has been winding down, another one is growing. *shakes head*

    Ain’t it fun?

  5. Hung Says:

For the most part, I’d say it is good to ignore the annoying posts. But really, if they get too out of hand, I’ll just remove the offending bloggers.

I’d been worried that all this negative energy has alienated some members of the community. I guess it’s sorta my job to moderate this, but I don’t like telling people what to blog about.

Seriously, though, this isn’t Emo Nano, it’s ANIME Nano! I’ll be keeping an eye on this.

  6. Ten Says:

You have to be delicate in handling this, though. Right now, you’re a media darling for some of these dudes. Be prepared for some criticisms from these same folks.

yes, it’s the negativity that bothers me the most. I like a happy community with occasional teasing and bantering.

I like my communities, peaceful and non-emo. Or at least, emo shouldn’t target your neighbor.

Gotta love those who seem unaffected by the drama.

  7. Godo Says:

Calm down now, Ten. It’s only e-drama. :p

I can;t believe there’s angst going on in your beloved anime community.

I haven;t seen you annoyed in a long time. How come you haven’t said a pip about this anyway?

  8. Ten Says:

Godo: Be thankful you’re not as enamoured in these aniblogs as I am. Tagalog na ang gawin ko, k? Ang sarap murahin yung ibang bloggers. Masyadong mayabang yung iba at uber-nakakaasar talaga. Argh. Actually, a handful lang sila. Dapat hindi ko na nga intindihin e. Lalo lang akong maasar. At least, mabait naman yung majority.

Hung: Thank you for the off-topic option in Anime Nano. Maybe it’ll weed out some unwanted posts.

  9. Hung Says:

Heh, I never asked to be worshipped or whatever by these people. Maybe slightly respected, yes…

I don’t really care if people turn on me or whatever. Look at how fast they turned on Jason! I’ve started removing the latest off-topic posts, so I think once everyone’s used to the new rule, it should be okay.

Plus what is that, tagalog!? Crazy, it’s like, some code which I can’t decipher! You better not be talking about me! ;)

  10. Ten Says:

Hee. There are some things I express much better with my native tongue. Let’s say it gives a little bite. I pretty much said, the majority are a cool bunch and the few ones suck (this is said in a more colorful tone). ;p

As for the venom they have for Jason, all I can say is “sour-graping”.

  11. Godo Says:

Fuuu… You should relish the drama. =P

Oi, pag nag-Tagalog ka, isama mo yung malutong na “punyeta” or my favorite “‘tang ‘na”.

Kelan ba uwi mo, bru? Miss ka namin. Mwa, mwa, mwa.
