Unpacking Hell!!

Filed under: life — Ten @ 11:08 pm

Despite my aching boy’s protest, I decided NOT to call in and just go to work yesterday. BAD IDEA!!! I was sleepy, was stressed, was cranky and was sore all over. It’s an extremely bad combination. It was a miracle that I managed to not be bitchy with co-workers.

So what’s the reason for this pain? Oh, god. We just moved to this new house. And unpacking is a neverending task.

Normally, I enjoy the unpacking part. However, my bedroom is on the second floor and a lot of my stuff are down in the garage. And with stuff, I mean, heavy stuff. The worst part are my books. I have four huge boxes filled with books. Since no one would be helping me bring up those boxes upstairs, I have to carry them by batches. So I’ve been going up and down the stairs for a gazillionth time in span of three days (with heavy stuff in my arms). Needless to say, I am sore all over. Gawd.

The good news. I’ve organized half of my books transformed my closet space into a mini library. I might take a picture after I’m done.

The bad news. I’m only halfway finished with my books. Half of my collection are still down in the garage. I want to weep just thinking of hauling them up again. I think I’ll finish them later this week. Or next week.

TV bits: Puccini love on TV~

Filed under: talk, tv bits — Ten @ 9:35 pm

When I saw a clip from Britain’s Got Talent, I wasn’t expecting Puccini’s Nessun Dorma. I wasn’t expecting to listen to a competition and to be blown away by the talent, especially where Simon Cowell sits as a judge. American Idol, it ain’t. Thank god, because I hate that show with passion.

Whoa. I’ve watched this six times yet it still wrings out tears. My cynical self wants to say that it could be the editing of the clip that adds to this overwhelming sense of emotion. If one gets nitpicky, one can tell that some of his technical aspects needs work. But man, the emotion this man evokes is something that I want in my music. The fact that he gave his entire self singing his rendition of Nessun Dorma brought another layer to his performance. The live audiences responded. Those who watched the broadcast were amazed.

Paul Potts might not be technical perfection but then again, The Arts is not about technical perfection. Great music is supposed to touch the soul. Mr. Potts’ Nessun Dorma accomplished that. No one can ask for anything more.

I think I’m gonna cry again. Sniff.

I’ve been playing (and singing) a whole lot of L’Arc-en-ciel these days. And this semi-Laruku trip is making me read accounts from the Otakon ‘04 concert. You’d think it make me happy. Nah. In fact, every enthusiastic account puts me in a melancholy. Gawd. If only I were there. Except I wasn’t. Darn. And a month from now, I’d most likely hear about the superband SKIN from those AX attendees. Argh. More reasons to sulk. Why must the hotel accomodations too frakkin’ expensive? Then again, as much as I heart Gackt, I’d rather not spend a portion of my car downpayment.

I am not stingy. I am just relatively practical.
