Karaoke-Lurv

Another karaoke post. A third one in four days. Hah. Yes, I missed my microphone. Muchly. It had been collecting dust in the past few weeks. Not that I wasn’t singing anything at all. I was. It’s just that I wasn’t in the mood to torture other people. Now, I am.

anime: Cowboy Bebop
title: Butterfly
orginal artist: M

Okay, this seems like a simple song. But I had a hard time controlling my voice into a semi-whisper whatever. Can’t do the sultry thing, though.

Here’s Lilium version 2. Pretty much the same, except I have memorized the lyrics.

And here’s another track. Naddie suggested to check out Asuca Hayashi, and I’ve been a fan ever since.

I’ve always wanted to learn Lilium, but never had the time to play with it until today. Here’s a rough test track.

anime: Elfen Lied
title: Lilium (OP)
artist: Kumiko Noma

I need to memorize the words, really. And I have to learn control. It gets thin on certain– okay, a lot of bars. I’ll probably record another one, when I don’t need to suppress the loudness of my voice. I don’t want to awake my housemates.

P.S. Favorite part: ‘Kyrie, Ignis divine, Eleison’.

Manga Sluttage

Filed under: books, fandom — Ten @ 5:22 am

I’m in manga mode recently.

Newish finds:

Matsuri Special. (Kamio Youko) - I love the wrestling premise. The character designs are very HYD-ish. I keep thinking Rui, Tsukushi, and Tsukasa. But from the first two chapters, the similarities are mostly superficial. Huge potential.

Bride of the Water God (Mi-Kyung Yoon) - Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. If you look at the detail works, you’ll drool. Leisurely paced, the story begins like a gentle ripple. How it develops is anyone’s guess. A definite buy.

Sugar Princess (Nakajo Hisaya) - I had high hopes, but I’m annoyed with the heroine. And that isn’t a good sign. She’s too nice and cheery in a oh-gawd-please-kill-her-way. I’d read a few more chapters, and pray that this manga is an acquired taste.

Midnight Secretary (Ohmi Tomu) - Oh, gawd. It seems SO politically incorrect to like this manga. It’s like trashy romance featuring secretary–or should I say, administrative assistant,– and her boss in a flirty and sex romp, meets the vampire genre. That’s too simplistic a summary, but it’s weird guilty pleasure. Think Shoujomagic releases (except it’s not a shoujomagic release).

Updates:

Shinshi Doumei Cross (Tanemura Arina) - Building up to the climax. I admit, I sniffled reading one of the latest chapters. Fluffy shoujo, meh likey.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (CLAMP) - Read it, people. I won’t take back my early dissing on TRS. But I’m definitely impressed with the later volumes. Awesome.

Anatolia Story (Chie Shinohara) [last chapter read, c.52] - Gasp! Blood and angst. I don’t know why I like this series. Think historical romance and bodice rippers in a politically tinged soapfest.

Regular reads:

One Piece (Eiichiro Oda) [last chapter read, c.485] ZORO, I HEART JOO!! MUCHLY!

Skip Beat (Yoshiki Nakamura) [last chapter read, c.117] Disappointing chapter, mostly because no Ren-Kyoko interaction. Still, lots of cuteness emanating from little demon princess.

Ouran Host Club (Hatori Bisco) [latest chapter read, c57] One word to Haruhi, showing signs of a ‘real’ shoujo heroine: Awww….

To be continued…

“…It’s really kooky to mix endangered ferrets and hot love-making…” Paul Tolme on ferret-romance plagiarism scandal

Too funny.
