A couple more days, and it’s NaNoWriMo!!

Woo-hoo!

And guess what… I finally have a heroine for the potentially, ahem, brilliant shit I’m about to write. The genre is same as last year’s (Of course!). They say, write what you enjoy reading. And I enjoy reading — I can’t believe I’m typing this — about the icky feeling that is called romantic love. For someone emotionally detached, I sure wuv the genre.

I’m going for a contemporary fairy tale. Not the Kristine Grayson kind with magicks and whatnot. Think Jennifer Crusie’s Bet Me (Love that book!).

So I have a heroine and her family. I know H’s hang-ups and dysfunction. I know where chapter one starts. I know the primary and secondary settings. I have my first and last line (subject to change). I have a vague inkling of BFF characters. But I have one big problem. I have no clue who the dude will be like. Someone hott, of course. But will he be charming? A snob? A geek? An artist? Is he absurdly wealthy or a struggling working man? Is he man-whore? Or is he content with monogamous relationships? Does he have friends? Or is he a lone wolf? Will he be angsty and emo? Or will he be the life of any party?

Ugh.

I’m struggling. Already.

Then again, that’s the beauty of the challenge.

Back in high school, even in Uni, I considered creative writing a horrendous pastime. Fast forward a few years and an semi-successful animu bloggu. Here I am, enjoying a hobby I hated as a subject in school. Go figure.

Holy mother of frakin’ gawd, Ten!!! Take five. Have a breather.

You are not, and I emphasize NOT, a blushing school girl. You’re a grown woman, damnit. I forbid you to think SILLY thoughts.

Grrr. Argh.

NaNaWriMo is around the corner! And I am brimming with excitement. But first, I must prep for the month.

On my list:

1. Rearrange bedroom for comfortable writing. (I like rearranging furnitures.)

2. Throw out distractions. (So not gonna happen!)

3. Prep for character backgrounds. (I so haven’t done this.)

4. Get Dark Room app. (I used it last year on my other PC. And I loved it.)

5. Stock on power bars. (I can easily handle this.)
