Inuyasha bits

Filed under: books — Ten @ 5:02 am

If after this latest Inuyasha arc and Naraku is still alive, I’ll start stalking Takahashi-sensei. I just read the wiki (because everything wiki is true), and it seems that this is the final arc. Yay.

So my predictions for the ending (I guess it’s obvious, but still…):

1. Naraku is defeated. Pretty, please. 500-some chapters of evil Naraku is too much,
2. The kazana curse (because of #1) will be broken. And Miroku and Sango will live HEA.
3. Rin will grow up as Sesshomaru’s bride. Yeah, there’s some loli aspect involved but Rin will grow up.
4. Aside from Naraku, someone else will die. Actually, I hope this won’t happen. I just have a feeling.
5. Kagome goes back home. The well/portal will close, and somehow Inuyasha will be reincarnated.

Yup, these are my predictions. They are cliche endings but I like cliche in my fighting/adventure genre. I also like ‘happily ever after’.

P.S. To be honest, I skipped a couple of hundred chapters so I’m a little woozy with some details. I’ll probably marathon the series one weekend.

P.P.S. I’ve been a manga whore these past few weeks. I’ll probably mention some titles in a future post that I’ve been following recently,

Just finished reading Jodi Picoult’s The Pact. Whoa. Great way to lighten my mood. Young love, suicide, sexual abuse, depression, courtroom drama. Talk about emotionally draining. *sniff*

Heh. This puts my troubles in a different perspective.

What is it about Arina Tanemura stories that makes me go ‘Awww’, then promptly burst into tears? She made me all sniffly in the latest scans (c.43) of Shinshi Doumei Cross.

Live blogging while reading 100-some chapters of Bleach:

0227:
ch.224 p.02 - WTF!? Another damsel in distress?? Another frakkin’ rescue mission? You’ve got to be kidding me.

0247:
ch.253 p.18 - Nice~
ch.255 p.11 - I think I am lusting after another 2D character.
ch.256 p.17 - Uryuu + Infinite slick = HAHAHA!

0229:
ch.260 p.03 - Sado, you some kind of rock.
ch.260 p.18-19 - OH. MY. GAWD.

0317:
ch.269 p.13 - If some of those Espada dudes become an ally, I’m going to hit someone.

0349:
ch.289 p.05 - This is getting boring.
ch.291 p.06 - So Nell-chan is an ex-Espada? A hottie, in fact. Should I be gasping now or what? Gah. /sarcasm

0403:
ch.297 p.18-19 - At last, a beacon of hope amidst vast blahness. Kenpachi returns.
ch.301 p.04 - Oh, frak it. Can’t this fight be over and done with?
ch.303 p.13 - Ooh. Weird shinigami scientist dude is fascinating. My eyes are open again.
ch.304 p.11 - Battle of the Barbarians? I like the sound of that.
ch.304 p.18 - Okay, now I really like weird shinigami scientist dude.

0429:
ch.305 p.19 - Now, that’s kickin’ ass. Mayuri is awesome.
ch.306 p.06 - Mayuri, not only entertaining, went up another notch to my estimation. He goes Mills on us, huh? ‘Better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied.’

0442:
ch.308 - Dear Kenpachi, will you marry me?

And thus concludes the Bleach reading-live blogging marathon.

Manga Sluttage

Filed under: books, fandom — Ten @ 5:22 am

I’m in manga mode recently.

Newish finds:

Matsuri Special. (Kamio Youko) - I love the wrestling premise. The character designs are very HYD-ish. I keep thinking Rui, Tsukushi, and Tsukasa. But from the first two chapters, the similarities are mostly superficial. Huge potential.

Bride of the Water God (Mi-Kyung Yoon) - Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. If you look at the detail works, you’ll drool. Leisurely paced, the story begins like a gentle ripple. How it develops is anyone’s guess. A definite buy.

Sugar Princess (Nakajo Hisaya) - I had high hopes, but I’m annoyed with the heroine. And that isn’t a good sign. She’s too nice and cheery in a oh-gawd-please-kill-her-way. I’d read a few more chapters, and pray that this manga is an acquired taste.

Midnight Secretary (Ohmi Tomu) - Oh, gawd. It seems SO politically incorrect to like this manga. It’s like trashy romance featuring secretary–or should I say, administrative assistant,– and her boss in a flirty and sex romp, meets the vampire genre. That’s too simplistic a summary, but it’s weird guilty pleasure. Think Shoujomagic releases (except it’s not a shoujomagic release).

Updates:

Shinshi Doumei Cross (Tanemura Arina) - Building up to the climax. I admit, I sniffled reading one of the latest chapters. Fluffy shoujo, meh likey.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (CLAMP) - Read it, people. I won’t take back my early dissing on TRS. But I’m definitely impressed with the later volumes. Awesome.

Anatolia Story (Chie Shinohara) [last chapter read, c.52] - Gasp! Blood and angst. I don’t know why I like this series. Think historical romance and bodice rippers in a politically tinged soapfest.

Regular reads:

One Piece (Eiichiro Oda) [last chapter read, c.485] ZORO, I HEART JOO!! MUCHLY!

Skip Beat (Yoshiki Nakamura) [last chapter read, c.117] Disappointing chapter, mostly because no Ren-Kyoko interaction. Still, lots of cuteness emanating from little demon princess.

Ouran Host Club (Hatori Bisco) [latest chapter read, c57] One word to Haruhi, showing signs of a ‘real’ shoujo heroine: Awww….

To be continued…
