Welcoming the early red hot summer!

Filed under: movie — Ten @ 11:23 pm

Summer starts early with Iron Man. I haven’t read any of the reviews of the said flick, so i watched with an open mind.

And dude…. It is many kinds of awesome. Love the origins story. Love the ‘currentness’. Love the direction (loads of love to Favreau). Love the graphics. And best of all, love Robert Downey Jr. (Again and again, that man amazes me. )

I wonder how far off I am with the critics. I haven’t read any of them, so far. I didn’t want to color my judgment for this quick post.

Word of advice. Watch the flick.

Edit: Read some critics. As it turns out, I’m not off by a wide margin.

My Sassy Girl trailer ~ American remake

Filed under: movie — Ten @ 1:17 am

Coming from the uber-disappointment of The Lake House, the Il Mare remake, I have the smallest expectation to the American adaptation of My Sassy Girl.

Here’s to hoping for a watchable movie.

There is a My Sassy Girl Hollywood version??? And they’re gonna have Elisha Cuthbert?

Have they forgotten what the horror that is The Lake House and the non-expression of Keanu?

Ghost Rider: A ghost that should be laid to rest.

Filed under: movie — Ten @ 7:19 pm

Nic Cage might want to be seen as badass. But his movie Ghost Rider is plain bad. Trite dialogue. Chemistry-less pairings. Predictable plot. Automagically-grown hair.

Eww.

The plot was really all over the place. I like Nic but the character he played was given some of the most nausea-inducing dialogue. I can almost imagine Nic trying hard not to laugh at the over-the-top lines. I’m not sure if they were being tongue-in-cheek or what. But I kept rolling my eyes the entire time.

I was expecting some kind of predictability in the storyline. But man, after the first fifteen minutes, I knew how it will end. The mentor, the love interest. Ugh. It would’ve been palatable if it weren’t for the sloppy execution. Although, on a brighter note, audiences were given a glimpse of a couple of great driving sequences, most notably the one going up the building and the one with the mentor dude. Other than that, the movie is a disaster.

Please, stay away from this movie. You’ll be better for it.
