NaNoWriMo Intermission.

Yep, I am still following the WGA strike coverage.

I legally download shows and watch streaming vids online, not because of moral reasons. I pay a couple of bucks for my two shows and wait for the ads, because of the convenience. And in show of support for the hard working writers, I have canceled my Amazon Unbox subscriptions for Heroes and Chuck. In the reason for cancellation box, I marked other and written, ‘In support of the WGA strike’. Also, I pledge NOT to watch any streaming shows online, until the strike ends.

So I’ll be reverting to the old-fashioned way: BT. Heh. Hey, if the writers aren’t getting any cent of my $1.89, the company won’t. I am leveling the playing field in my convoluted way. Think troll logic.

edit at 0223: I’ve added a a WGA-support icon on the sidebar. Snagged it from here. Credit to untilyoubelieve.

Damn, my sidebar is turning into MySpace fugly. I’m taking out the Moodget.

More non-nanowrimo bits.

I’ve been following the WGA strike because: 1. the longer it draws out I, as an audience member, will feel the effect on the small screen, 2. it’s Hollywod drama, baby.

And oh, boy. It gets crazy.

For the latest strike news, head to Deadline Hollywood Daily.

Let me interrupt my, erm, novel writing to bring news. More like, rehashing news.

JOSS WHEDON IS BACK!!! Well, in the small screen, I mean. His Jossness will be co-producing a new series called ‘Dollhouse’, starring Elisha Dushku (Yay! Faith!).

Shiny.

WHAT THE HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! SABRINA AND MARK ARE GOING HOME????!!! THIS IS INSANITY!!!!

Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out.

I am semi-calm. Okay. Not really. Pardon the CAPS and the many exclamation points, but holy shit! Sabrina and Mark went home tonight. I am a little upset. Well, more than little. Hence, the caps and all. I am flabbergasted. Surprised. Shocked. I don’t know anymore.

I am taking a breather as I type. And I just realize that I am actually emotionally invested in DWTS. Who would’ve thought? Although I was rooting for the awesome Helio, booting out Sabrina early in the game is undeserved. Damn (again!).

TV bits: Moonlight Preview

Filed under: moonlight, tv bits — Ten @ 2:58 am

Private Investigator by day, vampire by night. The tall, dark, and broody (and let’s add hunky) protagonist of Moonlight should have me drooling by the buckets. Alas, instead of me focusing on my normal delight over superficial aspects of the show, I find myself critiquing certain angles of Moonlight.

Vampires in contemporary LA is a fascinating tale that should not run out of style. Moonlight has stories to tell but I think the casting director miscast the actors. Tall, dark, and broody actor dude should be a good choice for the Moonlight’s angst-ridden vampire. I’ll be honest. Actor dude is hott (and I can picture him in my mind as one of those titled gentlemen in the Regency era.) You’d think he’d be oozing chemistry with any woman under 70. Unfortunately, TDB and the heroine (who looks a lot like the gorgeous Kate Winslet) does not even ignite a single spark. A pity. Even Jason Dohring, a Veronica Mars alum (love the dude!), cannot appease my annoyance. He is an excellent actor yet he is so awkward in the role as a paranoid ancient uber-vampyr.

One word to describe the pilot: Pretentious. Puh-lease. Every scene wants to shout, ‘Hey, I’m important! Listen to me!”. Everything is taken so seriously. The dialogue is so cliche. And the overall acting is so, uh, acted. No chemistry amongst the actors, at all.

I wanted to really really like the show. It has gorgeous vampires and has Angel-like premise… Maybe the next episode will be better. I should not give up hope.
